ABSTRACT:
The paper deals with a statistical analysis of radar data
obtained at the radar observatory of Czech Hydrometeorological
Institute in Praha-Libus. The primary data set consists of the
hourly radar observations from afternoon terms of summer periods
of 19 occurrences of the radar echo (RE) and its heights were
determined for individual terms and days. For each square -
except for the 4 central ones - several climatic characteristics
are derived from the set of hourly and daily observations. The
set of char several orographical characteristics being included.
Regarding the great decrease of frequency of occurrence of RE
with increasing distance from the radar, the exponential
correction function is introduced prior to the further analysis.
The spatial distri of the primary radar data and uncertainty due
to decrease of probability of RE detection with increasing
distance from the radar, it is stated that the findings are in
agreement with a general knowledge - e.g. frequency of occurrence
of radar echo and its
