Meteorological observatory Kopisty -> Meteorol. a climatological observation

The main goal of the Kopisty observatory is the monitoring and research of atmospheric boundary layer. For that reason the observatory is equipped with an 80 m high meteorological mast. The air temperature, humidity, and wind speed are measured in the levels 20, 40, 60 and 80 m above the surface and wind direction in the levels 40 and 80 m. Kopisty is the oldest active mast-station in the Czech Republic.
Climatological observations have been performed here since the year 1978. In the year 2000 the automatic weather station Vaisala was installed. The sensors measure the air temperature and humidity, air pressure, visibility, wind velocity and wind direction, soil-temperature in the depths of 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 cm, precipitation amount and duration of the sunshine. The visibility is measured by Vaisala PWD 10 visibility sensor. The 3-hourly measurements are carried out daily from 6 to 21 CET and the data are sent to the CHMI network.
In recent years the observatory was equipped with many new measuring instruments. Majority of them relates to the projects focused on the investigation of pollutants in deposited precipitation. Samples of fog and precipitation water are collected at the observatory and chemically analyzed in an external laboratory later on. Resultant pollutant concentration values are evaluated.
