Guidelines for Manuscript Submission
!!!Change of publishing policy!!!
As of 2002, the journal Physics and Chemistry of the Earth (PCE) will no longer adopt the camera-ready manufacturing method, in order to better benefit from nowadays electronic distribution facilities. In this respect, the journal will introduce a new feature: immediately after receipt of accepted articles accompanied by diskette, Elsevier will make these articles availible on the WWW, until the journal appears in print, as a service to the journal’s authors and readers.
Comment by J. Lastovicka: PCE will no longer be an EGS journal, it will be an Elsevier scientific journal preferentially for topical issues (as refereed meeting proceedings). Submission of manuscripts for the process of refeeeing will be quite sufficient in electronic form – by e-mail (preferred), on floppy disc(s), on CD-ROM – for our special issue of PCE.
The journal will remain a forum for the rapid publication of refereed communications in separate thematic issues, either stemming from scientific meetings, or, especially compiled for the occasion. Further, in addition to the 5-6 page papers the journal has been publishing so far the journal will from now on also be open to thematic issues containing papers of 15 - 20 pages.
A dedicated team of Subject Editors in the fields of Geophysics & Geochemistry, Oceanography, Hydrology & Atmospheric Science, and Solar Terrestrial & Planetary Sciences will be responsible for maintaining a high level of scientific quality and relevance.
Publishing in Physics and Chemistry of the Earth includes:
* Each team of Guest Editors receives 20 free copies of
the issue they are responsible for
* Each corresponding author receives a free copy of the
issue as well as 25 free offprints of their contribution
* No page charges
* Attractive conditions for publishing colour figures
* Free pre-publication availability of accepted articles
on the WWW
* Rapid publication (in consultation, but always less
than 4 months)
* Opportunities for bulk orders at attractive pre-publication
prices
